Did you know? 45% of workers in the UK do not use their full annual leave entitlement.
As the end of the calendar year approaches, many people realise that they have very little time left to take a lot of leave owed to them, and this may go against your company's leave policy.
If your working year starts on the 1st January, by October, you only have 25% of the year left to take your well-earned time off. If your year starts on the 1st April, you will have 50% left to go, and it will be over in a flash.
The years are moving quickly, and as we approach Christmas (again), the remaining two-thirds of workplace employees realise that the time to take leave is running out. Don't let the sounds of Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is You" over every retail loudspeaker remind you that 2024 is around the corner; get that last bit of leave booked before everyone beats you to it.
You can use this table to know how much of your work year is remaining at the start of each month:
If you are managing a dedicated team who have a lot of time owing to them, it might be a good idea to give them a reminder that they need to book their leave as soon as possible. The longer they wait, the more leave admin you will have to deal with at once.
Do yourself a huge favour and use a leave management system that allows staff to book any time, anywhere, using a desktop or mobile app. Not only does it make your HR tasks collaborative and streamlined, it is also an excellent initiative for paperless offices.
